Liverpool eliminated Barnsley in the third round of the FA Cup.

Liverpool beat Barnsley (4-1) and advanced to the fourth round of the FA Cup. Szoboszlai was the star of the match, for better or for worse.

Coming off a run of three consecutive draws, the “Reds” were looking to return to winning ways in this change of competition. And Szoboszlai opened the scoring relatively early in the match.

The Hungarian international pulled a rabbit out of a hat from the middle of the street, opening the scoring with a powerful shot (9m).

Next, it was Jeremie Frimpong’s turn to shine. The Dutchman made a beautiful individual run and shot to extend Liverpool’s lead (36th minute). Still in the first half, Szoboszlai went from hero… to villain.

The Hungarian made a rookie mistake and gifted the goal to Adam Phillips, who gratefully accepted and revived the match before halftime (40m).

The game was decided in the final minutes. Florian Wirtz, who came off the bench in the second half, scored the third goal in the dying moments (84th minute). The game was sealed in stoppage time by Frenchman Hugo Ekitiké (90+4th minute). With this result (4-1), Liverpool advance in the FA Cup. Barnsley, in turn, are eliminated in the third round of the competition.
