Ian Cathro, Estoril’s coach, in a flash interview with BTV, after the 3-1 defeat against Benfica in the 17th round of the League:
We have several tactics that allow us to bring more people together on that side and in the middle, creating distance between opponents, and gradually making it easier to find space. Perhaps without many opportunities, I think we’ll review the game and feel that we had the chance to score another goal. We lost 3-1 and we’ll try to learn and improve. Our way of working has nothing to do with any other club, it has to do with our idea. Trying to play the game as it comes, and as Estoril’s coach, that’s what I’ll do, until they get tired of me.
“It wasn’t so much about the goal scored and only being at a disadvantage; conceding the second goal makes things much more complicated, and looking at that play, it’s a high-level finish (Pavlidis). I think our goal shows that our group of players wants to compete a lot, has incredible energy, and with the lessons we have to learn from every game, we will try to build something that is very important for us: stability.
